About This Role

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for driving business growth within the assigned country by identifying and developing new market opportunities across Information Technology, Actuarial, Insurance, and Reinsurance services under Acentria Group. The role focuses on expanding the company’s footprint, strengthening market presence, and building sustainable commercial partnerships within the local market. The Chief Executive Officer leads market development initiatives and ensures alignment with the Group’s overall strategic direction. The role is responsible for delivering revenue growth through effective strategic planning, client relationship management, and the execution of country-specific market strategies. In addition, the role holder serves as a key advisor to executive management by providing insights on market dynamics, customer behavior, regulatory developments, and competitive positioning to support informed decision-making and long-term growth.

Job Description

1.MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE JOB

Managerial / Supervisory/ Operational Responsibilities or roles:

a) Market Development & Business Growth

  • Develop and implement country-level business development strategies aligned with Acentria Group’s vision, revenue targets, and client retention objectives.
  • Identify new market segments, distribution channels, and opportunities for expansion across Information Technology, Actuarial, Insurance, and Reinsurance services.
  • Drive revenue growth by sourcing new clients, developing partnerships, and unlocking new business opportunities.
  • Analyse market trends, competitive dynamics, and emerging customers’ needs to identify long-term opportunities for sustainable growth.
  • Lead country-level go-to-market strategies for new products, services, and solutions.

b) Strategic Planning & Execution

  • Conduct market assessments, competitive analysis, and customer insight reviews to guide strategic decision-making.
  • Prepare and execute annual country business plans, including revenue targets, budgets, and growth strategies.
  • Monitor market developments and adjust strategies to maintain competitive advantage and market relevance.

c) Relationship Management

  • Build and maintain high-value relationships with key clients, partners, regulators, and industry stakeholders.
  • Represent the company at country-level industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder engagements.
  • Negotiate commercial agreements, partnerships, and joint ventures to support market expansion.
  • Support seamless collaboration with regional teams in Kenya, Uganda, and Rwanda to deliver integrated client solutions.

d) Sales & Commercial Leadership

  • Collaborate closely with commercial and sales teams to drive account growth and achieve revenue targets.
  • Support the development of pricing strategies, proposals, and competitive bids.
  • Monitor commercial performance and report progress to senior leadership.
  • Drive business development initiatives including strategic partnerships, diversification strategies, and product-market alignment in liaison with the commercial department.

e) Operational & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Coordinate with Marketing, Finance, Legal, People & Culture, Operations, and technical teams to support country-level execution.
  • Ensure local operations comply with company policies, governance standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide market feedback to technical teams to ensure service offerings align with local client needs and market demand.
  • Drive operational efficiency by optimizing workflows, leveraging automation, and improving turnaround times.
  • Ensure effective use of CRM systems and business platforms for pipeline tracking, reporting, and client engagement.

f) Reporting & Performance Management

  • Prepare regular reports on pipeline development, market intelligence, and performance against targets.
  • Monitor portfolio performance including growth, renewals, retention, and client profitability metrics.
  • Forecast revenue, pipeline opportunities, and potential country-level business risks.
  • Develop and track Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to ensure continuous performance monitoring and improvement

2.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

a) Minimum level of academic qualification, skills and knowledge required to perform effectively in the role:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Insurance, Economics, Marketing, or related field.
  • Experience in a senior management role in the respective country (Respective division experience (Reinsurance, Technology or Actuarial) as an added advantage).
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management experience.
  • Excellent understanding of market dynamics and commercial operations
  • Customer centric
  • Master’s degree is an added advantage.

b) Professional qualification

  • Any Professional qualifications in marketing and any relevant fields will be an added advantage including, Reinsurance, IT, Insurance or Actuarial.

c) Minimum level of personal and professional experience required to perform effectively in the role:

  • Strong understanding of market dynamics within the country of operation
  • Strong marketing skills
  • Proven experience in driving growth within a country or regional market.
  • Experience in driving growth within Reinsurance, Insurance, Technology, Actuarial or Finance related fields.
  • Business Development and Client Relationship Management skills

  • Expertise in CRM tools, pipeline management systems, and client lifecycle analytics.
  • Knowledge of regulatory frameworks governing services in any of the respective divisions.

d) Minimum months or years of experience required to be appointed to the position:

  • 10+ years’ experience in business development, sales, market expansion, or commercial leadership with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role (preferably in marketing and sales)
